After Dan Scott and I co-directed the BFI film 'Making it' together, we were eager to work together again. When he first showed me the script, I was hooked. We got a producer involved and started the developmental and planning process. We named ourselves DAM productions, Dan Alex and Matilda, and the fun started there.

As someone who never considered doing comedy before, I saw the opportunity to work on a dark comedy as a way to expand my skillset in directing different genres. I really enjoyed directing comedy and Dan and I are already workng on starting the developmental process for the next one. I think with comedy, the effect of the actors initial choices combined with the effect of directors input on the overal comedy. Also, it's the best feeling when you finish a take and the whole cast and crew burst out laughing - you know that was a good take.

This was the first time I independently led a team of cast and crew without assistance.  I created a six day shooting schedule and created the shot lists with my co-director Dan in preparation to the shoot. I really enjoyed keeping the group motivation high and to time. We were ahead of schedule every day allowing us to wrap early or set up for the next day.

The film is still in the post - production stage. Through the editing process, we've turned a load of rough footage from a week of hard work and are creating the chaotic, fast-paced and stupid world that me and Dan envisioned from the very beginning.
